"Now if it wasn't for the Bronx/ This rap shit probably never would be goin' on/ So tell me where you from?/ Uptown Baby, Uptown Baby/ We gets down baby/ Up for the crown baby" - Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz, "Deja Vú (Uptown Baby)"
On April 6th, 2009, a crudely sketched arpeggiator evolved into "Here Come the Pretzels!", a Simpsons reference that inspired the artist to further explore the autobiographical nature of home. From there, an experimental tribute to project housing and salsa music became the track "Elevators", while an attempt to mimic the increasing acceleration of cousin Nelson's Chevy Tahoe became the opening synthesis launching this record's title track. Most telling however, is the album's central effort "Triborough Bridge", a celebration of community named after one of many physical connections to peers and beers throughout New York City. Both a salute to the northernmost borough and a thorough piece of autobiography, "Uptown, Baby" is at heart an excuse to party with your friends. Take heed.
Download includes an LSDJ sav file featuring tracks from the entire "Uptown, Baby!" album.
